去年の今頃描いた絵が、いま目の前にある。
色がまだキャンバスの上で舞っているようで、その懐かしい生々しさに奇妙な心地を覚える。一年経った私の身体の細胞は全部入れ替わってすでに異なる物質になっているのに、私は相変わらず私らしさを維持しているのが不思議でならない。
生命は自分を保とうとする構造だ。外界と区切りを持ち、エネルギーを取り込み、形を保とうとする。とめどない空気を輝かせながら連続している蝋燭のこの火も、川のあの水も、森のその風も、一瞬たりとも同じだったことはない。
それでもなお、火は光り、水は流れ、風は吹き続ける。作品たちから跳ね返ってくる色で、私もまた私を続けていくのだと知り、筆を取る。
2026年 春 久保田沙耶
Standing before a work I painted a year ago, I am struck by the vividness of the colors, as if they are still dancing on the canvas. It is a curious feeling. In the year since its completion, the cells of my body have been entirely replaced by new matter, yet I somehow maintain the essence of who I am.
Life is an inherent drive to preserve one’s structure. It sets boundaries, draws in energy, and seeks to hold its form. Like a candle flame flickering in the air, a flowing river, or a forest breeze—none are the same from one instant to the next. Nevertheless, the light remains, the water travels, and the wind persists. Realizing through the resonance of these colors that I am part of this continuous cycle, I reach for my brush.
